AEGYPTOS, Egypt personified, reclining with left arm on urn, right holding a sistrum (religious musical rattle), egret before.

Hadrian traveled the empire and visited many provinces which are named on his famous "travel series" of coin types which are struck after his travels were over, 135-138. He visited Egypt in year 15. His arrival is commemorated on coins of Roman Alexandria.
