Books

Spengler, William F. and Wayne G. Sayles. Turkoman Figure Bronze Coins and their Iconography. Volume I:  The Artuqids.  1996.  HC
Spengler, William F. and Wayne G. Sayles. Turkoman Figure Bronze Coins and their Iconography. Volume II:  The Zengids.  1996.  HC
These volumes are complete and well-illustrated for the series they cover. Unfortunately, Spengler took ill and then died and was unable to work on the missing volume III, which was to include the Danishmendids, Seljuqs of Rum, Ayyubids, Mongols, and lesser dynasties.

My on-line supplement to Spengler and Sayles is here:  http://augustuscoins.com/ed/Turkoman/Turkoman.html  It lists, but does not discuss, the other figural types.

Islamic Coins and Their Values, volume 1, by Tim Wilkes. 2015. 66 types (which is all, or just about all, the types) illustrated in color with excellent examples. There is almost no commentary.

Balog, Paul. The Coinage of the Ayyubids. 1980. HC. RNS Special Publication 12. An inexpensive (c. $42) and very well done 334 page book on the entire Ayyubid series with lines drawings throughout and 50 page plates, with each of the Ayyubid figural bronze types illustrated with several examples.

Poole, Stanley Lane.  Coins of the Urtuki Turkomans. PB. 1875.  A large-format, thin, scholarly (but old), pamphlet. 45 pages and 6 plates.

Album, Stephen.  Marsden's Numismata Orientalia Illustrata.  1977. HC. An old price guide about all Arabic coins. Many of the Turkoman types are illustrated with line drawings.

Album, Stephen. A Checklist of Islamic Coins. Fourth edition, 2022. No photos, but by far the most complete list of Islamic coin types.
