Agrippa, d. 12 BC.  27 mm. as.  Struck AD 37-41.
M AGRIPPA L F COS III, head left, rostral crown (because of his naval victories as admiral of Augustus)
Neptune standing left holding dolphin and vertical trident.

Sear I 1812 "posthumous [struck] under Caligula [his grandson]". RIC Caius [Caligula] 58 "undated."

Agrippa was an admiral and general for Octavian/Augustus. He predeceased Augustus in 12 BC. He had been married to Julia, daughter of Augustus and his first wife Scribonia. Their daughter Agrippina (Sr.) was the mother of Caligula. So, Agrippa was the grandfather of Caligula who honored Agrippa with this coin type.
