Books:
Samarian Coinage, by
Ya'akov Meshorer and Shraga Qedar. 160-page, 7 x 9 3/4-inch hardcover.
Includes 31 pages of excellent photos. This is the 1999
book that lists and discusses 224 different types of Samarian coins,
with each phtographed natural size, also times 3, and with a good
enlarged line drawing. The arrangement and clarity of this work is
outstanding. I recommend it highly
if you have any interest in the series. It subsumes the next work, with
many of the same paragraphs. With this book you probably don't need the
next one.
The Coinage of Samaria in the Fourth
Century BCE, by Ya'akov Meshorer and Shraga Qedar. 1991.
136-page
hardcover includes 52 pages of photos, drawings throughout, 8 3/4 x 11
inches. The Classic and original book of Samarian Coinage and still the
only place to find the Samaria Hoard.
A Treasury of Jewish Coins, by
Ya'akov Meshorer. Hardcover. 2001. 356 pages including 80 page plates.
An excellent all-around book on Jewish coins with a substantial section
(16 pages and many photos) on YHD coins, but not Samarian coins.
SNG ANS 6, Palestine-South Arabia,
has some obols (of Gaza?) on plate 1,
not attributed specifically to Samaria.
